The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mocking Jay

Today is Sunday, May 26, 2012

Good Sunday Morning Everyone!

DESURFSUP just finished reading "The Hunger Games" series and let me tell you...we thoroughly enjoyed each and every book in the series!  If you have not read them yet, you better get busy because we would hate for you to miss out on these great books.  They are really exciting and suspenseful and now we can't wait to go see the movie.  The only problem is once you pick them up and start reading you will have a very hard time putting them down to do anything else...
Today's posting asks you the following questions:
Did you read any of the Hunger Games books and if so which one/ones?
Which book did you like the best of all?
Imagine being either "Katniss" or "Peta" and explain how you would feel if you were to embark upon the journey of "The Hunger Games"!

Before you leave your comments below, watch the official trailer for "THE HUNGER GAMES"

  1. JB 1/2 - I read the hunger games . I like Katniss more because i like her attitude. She cares about her family , and took her sisters place so she wouldn't have to compete. If i had to do this i would be scared , knowing that the other districts may be better.

  2. JLL: I've actually seen the movie Hunger Games and I loved it, I cried when Rue died she was so sweet and innocent she didn't deserve it. But over all it was a great movie and I hope there's more to come.

  3. I have read and enjoyed all three of the Hunger Games books, and I loved the first movie. I love the whole idea of the books, and I like that it brings in serious themes, but keeping them toned down enough that they are able to be read by younger people. I think my favorite book would either be the first or second. The third book moved a little too slowly in the beginning for me, but as I read further it became very interesting and captivating. -BKB

  4. C.D. - I personally have read all three books from this suspenseful and unexpected turn of events book series. It's hard to decide which book I liked the best. But I'd have to say it was the second and third book because it introduced so many important characters, one of which I liked the most was Finnick. If I were on a journey with Peeta or Katniss, I think I would be feeling the same chaotic emotions they would be feeling as described in the book series.

  6. I have not read any of the Hunger Games books yet but I am planning to very soon. I saw the movie and thought it was pretty good all around except for the poor camera men making the camera shake so much when there was action.

  7. R.Tallant 3/4-Although this is not the official trailer for the movie the Hunger Games, it is very well done. My reading class last year had read the hunger games trilogy, watched the movie, and watched many videos like this. I enjoyed the book the hunger games very much it has everything; romance, adventure, violence, future, history and so much more.

I personally have read all the books in the Hunger Games series and it's actually one of my favorites. I will say the movies was good overall but it didnt include as much of the details i had read in the book. I recommend you read the book first before watching the movie.

  10. I only read the first hunger games book. I liked it, it was pretty good. I think Katniss was a brave girl. If I was in her position I would've been very afriad. I would like to read the rest of the books. I also wonder if their going to come out with more movies. SB pd:1/2

  15. I read all the books & have seen the movie , the book is by far way better than the movie. The book gives you more details. If I was Katniss I would feel almost the same way terrified , & clueless. I cant wait till to read the newest book ! Hw- 7/8

  16. I am very interested with Hunger Games. I love the book i read and I love both movies that came out. I heard there was going to be another one out about District 12. This movie is touching and relative because to get what you want you have to go get it.

  19. The Hunger Games is one of my favorite book series. I love how Katniss comes off so eager to win, although she is terrified. I think if I was in District 12 I wouldn't be able to make it through. But I cannot wait until Catching Fire the movie comes out this year!

  21. I have read all of the books in the Hunger Games Series and I LOVE them all ! They were the first books I read after I finished the Twilight Saga and it really opened my reading to more action packed books . I also saw the movie the night it premiered and I have to admit although I feel as though no movie will EVER be as good as the book it originated the Hunger Games movie was done phenomenally ! I feel as though the director captured Suzan Collins vision of the book exceptionally well . As for the best book I can't really choose one because they each are so brilliantly written there is no one book that's better than the others . I would want to be Katniss (of course !) because being her would mean I would something bigger than just myself to fight for and this would give me courage and determination to win even though I would still be scared out of my mind .

  22. I never read any of the Hunger Games books. I did want to start reading them a while ago, but i never got around to it. I seen the first movie it was very good! When i saw the movie I was so excited because it was just that good. The movie kept me on the edge of my seat. If i was Katniss i would be so scared, I really think she is really brave for a girl.

  24. I haven't read any of the books but I did see the movie, The Hunger Games, and it was one of the best movies ever. I really enjoyed the movie but everyone says the book is better. I guess I have to read the book to figure that out. I am really excited to go see the movie Catching Fire. Hope its good!

  27. I have read all three books and thought that they were very well written. They were well thought out and the suspense of the books was incredible. I felt as though I knew the characters and saw the scenery before the movie even came out. The books are so descriptive and I would highly recommend for anyone who hasn't read them to. I think that the best book was Catching Fire. The first book was exciting I have to admit that, but I felt that the second book had you on your toes the entire time. The third book moved a little too slow and was a little more complicated to read. If I were Katniss, I don't think I would've been able to handle it as well as she did.

  33. N.T~ I have only read two out of the three books, the Hunger Games and the Hunger Games Catching Fire. Out of those two books my favorite was the Hunger Games Catching Fire, I enjoy that one most because it tells you how they live, all the stress they went through, and how they had to go through the same thing twice in a row! If I was Peta then I would not last one second in that dome thing, if I survived I would most likely never come out of my room because that is horrible, I mean like not as bad as the purge but still pretty bad. I would definitely not be in the Hunger Games.

  34. SS-So far I’ve only read The Hunger Games, but I’m in the middle of reading Catching Fire. I liked The Hunger Games because it was very suspenseful. I think if I was Katniss or Peeta than I would be terrified to be in the Hunger Games, but if I made it out alive and I was in the situation they were in I would also be scared. If I was in the Hunger Games than I don’t really think I would’ve made it out because the other players. In the book they seemed very intense and I don’t know if I would be that way.
