  1. I just have to share the book I am reading, My Sister's Keeper by Jod Piccoult. I can't put it down. I am especially excited because it is coming out in a movie. I always like to read the book first so that is why I am reading it now. If it continues to be this good I will recommend it to others. It was recommended by a teacher at Delcastle and was in the Library.

  2. I have to share a book I am reading right now, My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Piccoult. A teacher at Delcastel recommended it to me and I checked it out of the library. If it continues to be this good, I highly think you should read it. Has anyone else read this book? Are all her books this good? This book will be a movie soon, I want to finish it before I see the movie.

  6. Although I am not always a big fan of urban fiction, I just read two new books from a New York author named Coe Booth. Her first book,Tyrell,is a best pick by the School Library Journal but don't let that stop you from reading it. Her newest book is Kendra. Both books, set in the Bronx, are quick, easy reads with realistic characters who struggle to make good choices while living in really difficult situations.

  7. Just finished reading An Abundance of Katherines. The main character, Colin Singleton, has been dumped 19 times, always by a girl named Katherine. In an effort to help him rebound from Katherine XIX, Colin's friend Hassan forces him to take an unplanned road trip that leads them to Gutshot, Tennessee, where they meet some interesting characters and acquire a new spin on life. Slow start but good read, especially as Lindsey plays more of a role in the story.

  8. If you like to read books that people say you shouldn't read, then you might like The Sledding Hill by Chris Crutcher. This book explores the issue of censorship. Eddie Proffit, the main character in the story, is having a lot of trouble dealing with the loss of both his father and his best friend in freak accidents. Fortunately, his English teacher assigns his class to read a book, Warren Peace, that really touches him and others in his class who are also going through difficult times. Of course, as soon as someone gives a kid something really worth reading, some adult wants to take it away and that's when the controversy begins....

  9. Do you think our continuing research in gene therapy for the treatment of existing medical conditions is a positive step forward for humanity or more of a danger to it? Nancy Werlin's novel, Double Helix, is an engrossing mystery that explores some of the ethical issues surrounding transgenics. It was a really good read!

If you've read the book, I'd like to hear what you have to say about it.

  10. At the beggining of summer I read a book called Not Alone. I picked it because the cover was bright orange and the only thing on it were big black letters saying "not alone". It was about a girl and boy who were together for years through their childhood. Then something happens to the girl on their anniversary and she goes missing. She was missing for years, so the boy gave up looking. Then she contacted him years later anonymously because she was in danger. It's really action filled and suspencful. Even if you don't like "lovey" books it's still really interesting to read because of how detailed it is. -G.P.

  11. tp- This summer I have been going to the pool, staying up late, and just staying outside all day long. I went to see a movie at my friends house and we couldn't even watch it because the dvd player wasn't working. Other then that my summer has been awesome.

  14. L.S:

I normally read a book or two during the summer. I do a lot of Social Networking during the summer as well, and that of course includes Twitter. I don't do this type of blogging, but I do have a tumblr, which is a different type of blogging, but it's still the same concept.

  15. A.J.M.: I have been reading a book called "The Boneman's Daughter" by Ted Dekker. The book is about a man trying to fix his relationship with his daughter while serving in Iraq. When he comes back, he finds out that she has been kidnapped by a psychopathic serial killer. As time begins to run out before something bad happens, he goes on a mission to find her.
